Oak Brook – Oak Brook is known for its upscale mansions and thriving corporate scene. Oak Brook was the vision of developer Paul Butler, who in the 1960s envisioned a community of high-quality homes and businesses. The village is home to Graue Mill Museum, which was one of three authenticated underground railway stations in Illinois where runaway slaves found a haven, and the adjacent Fullersburg Woods forest preserve, which offers hiking along Salt Creek. The world headquarters of major corporations, such as McDonalds and Ace Hardware are also located in Oak Brook. And, the very popular Oakbrook Center attracts shoppers from all around the area to its distinctive stores.
Transportation – Oak Brook is located off of Interstate 88 and the Eisenhower Expressway (Interstate 290) and near the Tri-State Tollway (Interstate 294), which offers access to the Stevenson Expressway (Interstate 55). The village is also served by the Pace Suburban Bus System, which runs a route from Oakbrook Center.

Schools and Education – The village is served by three elementary districts – Salt Creek Elementary District 48, Butler Elementary District 53 and Downers Grove Elementary District 58. Hinsdale High School District 86, Willowbrook High School District 88 and Downers Grove Community High School District 99 serve high school students. Students may also attend Elmhurst Unit School District 205.

Elmhurst – One of the oldest suburban communities in the Chicago area, Elmhurst is located approximately 17 miles from the city. From safe, well-maintained, family-oriented neighborhoods, outstanding schools, and plenty of shopping to an array of recreational opportunities, leisure-time activities, and exciting events, Elmhurst has it all. Downtown Elmhurst is a lively area that includes shops, restaurants and a theater. Unique among suburban communities is the Elmhurst Art Museum. Facilities include the Abbey Leisure Center for older adults, sport and fitness center Courts Plus and the Elmhurst Great Western Prairie, a strip of preserved prairie land along the Illinois Prairie Path, the Sugar Creek Golf Course and the Wilder Park Conservatory.
Transportation – Metra’s Union Pacific/West Line carries commuters and passengers to and from Chicago and to all points in between. Around-the-clock schedules depart from the Elmhurst station located conveniently at 128 W. First Street in the City Center. Pace busses run throughout Elmhurst’s quiet, tree-lined streets, providing access to the Metra’s station and other Elmhurst locations seven days a week.

Schools and Education – public schools and the
- Consolidated School District 205 – provides education for most of the children of Elmhurst, except those children living in the area west of Salt Creek and an area south of Butterfield Road, west of Euclid. Consolidated School District 205 – operates 10 elementary schools, three junior high schools and one senior high school.
- Salt Creek Elementary School District 48 – provides education for children living in the area west of Salt Creek and the area south of Butterfield Road, west of Euclid. Salt Creek School District 48 operates Salt Creek School on Riverside Drive in Elmhurst.
- Elementary School District 45 – provides education for children living in the area west of Route 83 known as Pick Subdivision. District 45 operates North School at 150 Sunset Drive in Villa Park, as well as Jefferson Junior High School at 255 West Vermont in Villa Park.
- High School District 88 – operates Willowbrook High School and provides high school education for those students attending district 45 and 48 elementary schools.
- Elmhurst College – Consistently ranked in the top tier of Midwestern liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report, Elmhurst College offers 50 programs of study in 22 departments to more than 2,700 undergraduate and graduate students.
